AIRCRAFT AND GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (GSE) EMISSIONS ANALYSIS

AERO Systems Engineering (ASE) provides complete aircraft/ground support equipment emissions analysis and mitigation solutions.  Emission levels can be identified based on current operating procedures using ASE’s Aircraft/GSE Emission Analysis program, and mitigation solutions for these emissions can be implemented.  ASE has the technical and management expertise to assist you with the evaluation of emissions and identify the long term benefits, such as ...

Ground support and handling organizations are now faced with mandates by the EPA that effect their purchasing decisions of new GSE.  In addition to cost impact of new GSE, the environmental impact must be considered as well.  These EPA mandates also extend to airports and airlines by limiting the usage of the aircraft's auxiliary power unit (APU) in an effort to reduce harmful emissions.  Are these mitigation efforts the right solution?   Will they have a positive impact on the environment?  Using ASE's Aircraft/GSE Emission Analysis program combined with a GSE resource analysis, you can make the right choices and more effectively make financial commitment decisions that have long-term effects on capital and human resources as well as the environment!

Analysis

ASE's "Engineering Team" will merge the current inventory of all ground support equipment with the gate operation schedule and create a computer model that generates both financial and environmental data that are site specific.  Hypothetical changes to the daily gate operation schedule, such as APU run time or use of alternate powered GSE, can then be applied to determine the ground support equipment required at a certain gate or stand position and its environmental impact.  Through the use of computer-generated models and ASE’s expertise in ground support systems, areas for improvement can be evaluated and identified.

Once a computer model is in place, additional analysis involving fuel conversion of direct and indirect GSE, such as bag loaders, tugs, tractors and other mobile equipment, can be made.  GSE requirements and environmental impacts can be identified for a variety of hypothetical situations.  In addition, ASE engineers understand the infrastructure impact of alternate powered GSE and can provide cost effective detailed designs, contract drawings and specifications which incorporate converted GSE requirements into the airport's infrastructure.
